Kavya Madhavan

Born in Nileshwaram in Kasaragod district, the 24-year-old forayed in Malayalam films as a child artist with ‘Pookkalam Varavayi’ (1991). She came into reckoning when she featured in ‘Azhakiya Ravanan’ in 1996. And since then she has not looked back.

In more than a decade-long career, she acted with leading superstars like Mammootty, Mohanlal and Jayaram. Her films with Dileep turned out to be big hits at the box-office.

Some of her big hits are ‘Meesha Madhavan’, ‘Madhamabhi’, ‘Classmates’ and ‘Ananthabhadram’.

She is noted for having retained her rural Nileshwaram accent. She was not allowed to dub for her movies because her voice does not fit the usual “sweet and soft” voice of typical dubbers. However, she recently has begun to dub for some of her roles, such as Perumazhakkalam.

Kavya shot to the status of a heroine with Lal Jose’s Chandranudikkunna Dikkil(1999) at the age of 14. Then more than 50 films followed. Even though she had offers from other language film, she rejected them.Now kavya is known as Malayalam’s own heroine. She embodies the typical Malayali woman look.

Kavya Madhavan’s Movie career

She first appeared as a child in Kamal’s film Pookalam Varavayi (1991). Her talent was soon recognized, and she was offered other projects. When she was in ninth standard, she got an offer to play as a heroine in Lal Jose’s film Chandanudikkunna Dikkil, which became a super hit.

After her leading role, she became popular in the Malayalam film industry. It has been claimed that she was the busiest female actress in Malayalam.

Kavya’s films include Mizhi Randilum, Dosth, Madhura Nombarakattu, Sadananthante Samayam and Meesa Madhavan, of which the last movie bagged a record collection in the Malayalam film industry. Her other films include Chakkara Muthu, Iruvattam Manavatti, Annorikkal, Kochi Rajavu, Aparichithan, Perumazhakkalam, Gaurisankaram, Runway, Athisayan, Chakkara Muthu, Thilakkam and many more.

She has acted in few Tamil films; Kasi was her first and only film in Tamil that performed well at the box office.
Kavya’s Personal life

She married Nishal Chandra in February 2009, but shortly after filed for divorce. She is now back into films and has started acting again
